Finca El Durazno is one of our LIFT coffees from Honduras. The LIFT program is a five-year sustainability program with farmers teaching them to increase crop yield, sustainability, and coffee quality at the producer level. The farm is owned by Wilfredo Zavala, and has 15 hectares, 13 of which are cultivated. Finca El Durazno is located in Guinope, a small village in the department of El Paraiso, with a population of 15,000 people primarily involved in the cultivation of coffee.
The farm sits at 1,600 – 1,650 meters above sea level, with an average temperature of 71 degrees and grows yellow and red catuai. As with all LIFT farms in Honduras, the pickers at Finca El Durazno are taught to only pick the ripe cherries, and they pay particular attention to the processing of their coffees to create and exceptional product.
This El Durazno Honey micro lot is one of our favorite coffees of the season, and we are delighted to find the coffee has grown to include complex acidity and notes of jasmine, lavender, strawberry, grape juice, and tropical fruit, with a sweet and lingering finish.
